Caprese Salad

Ciao Foodies 🙂

As this is my first post, I’m going to keep things simple, however don’t let that fool you, this simple yet delicious dish will have all you Foodies back for more.

Caprese Salad, or if you want to get fancy ‘Insalata Caprese’, meaning Salad of Capri is a fresh, simple salad made of tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil, salt and olive oil.

The salad is made to resemble the colours of the Italian flag red, white and green.

This is a personal favorite of mine, mainly because I have an obsession with tomatoes, the dish itself is so fresh and light. Perfect for summer time!

What you will need

  • 240g Mozzarella
  • 4 Roma tomatoes
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt
  • Olive oil

Serves 2

Now that you’re ready, let’s get started!

Slice the mozzarella roughly 1/2 a cm wide and place it around the edge of your plate.

Slice your tomatoes next, ensure you slice enough to place evenly on your mozzarella pieces.

Basil time! You can do this one of two ways, place the fresh leaves on top of the tomatoes or, as I like to do, bunch the leaves together and then thinly slice them, I then finish off by sprinkling them onto the tomato and mozzarella.

Lastly, add a pinch of salt (to taste) and then drizzle the olive oil over your dish in a circular motion and you’re done!

Buon appetito!
