Tomato Sauce & Meatballs!

Welcome back foodies!

Now that you know how to make homemade pasta, we are going to make traditional, delicious tomato sauce! Brace yourselves, as I’m going to give you the best tomato sauce recipe you will ever have and even better, it has meatballs!

This is a two-step recipe, firstly we will start off with the meatballs

Meatball Ingredients

  • 500kg beef mince
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Let’s begin!

  1. Firstly, spread the mince over your kitchen bench in a rectangular shape by 1cm high
  2. Sprinkle the bread crumbs, parsely and parmesan evenly over the mince
  3. Add salt and pepper
  4. Crack eggs over mince, throw away shells
  5. Mix all ingredients together until fully combined
  6. Break the mince into small palm sized pieces and roll into little balls
  7. Place on a tray and pop them in the fridge

Tomato Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 pork chop
  • 1 jar tomato passata (woolies brand is actually best)
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 1/2 cup mushroom
  • 2 whole red chilli
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic
  • 1 tbsp parsely
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp sugar
  • 4 bay leaves

Okay, now for my favourite part!

  1. Finely chop onion, mushroom and chilli
  2. Heat pot on high heat over stove and add oil
  3. Once oil starts to bubble, add onion, mushroom and chilli
  4. Stir for 2-3 minutes until onion starts to brown
  5. Add peas, stir for another 2 minutes
  6. Add in tomato passata
  7. Stir thouroughly for 2 minutes
  8. Add parsely, garlic, bay leaves, salt and pepper
  9. Remove meatballs from fridge and add them into the sauce along with the pork chop
  10. Turn heat down to medium and allow sauce and meat to simmer for 30m – 1hr.

Add parmesan to taste  and mangiare!
